Well, well, well its good ole summer time again. This is such a great time to socialize with our family and neighbors not to mention our friends. Grilling out or having a BBQ is a great way to get together and we all seem to love to eat anyway. We just need to think more about how bad some of the food we throw on the grill really is. It all taste good to us and we wouldn't even notice if the bad things like chemicals and preservatives were missing. Simply leaving these out can actually help improve our health. What are some ways that we might do this when we grill out?

Try Going Natural!

Everyone seems like they want to go for nature in the summer time, you know like showing bare skin and keeping all things as near natural as possible. We need to think about the meats we want to grill or BBQ in the same way. Remember when we were kids and went to the farm to visit. We weren't fed foods that were full of things like nitrates and salt.

The foods our grandparents put on our plate was the natural stuff. The cows and the chickens were running free in a field and were sometimes fed extra hay or corn if they needed it. They grew on the land as free roaming animals as they were meant to do. They are so much better for our health if they aren't given growth hormones and no telling what else.

We didn't have to worry about eating the fish we caught either as we were pretty sure it wasn't full of mercury or some other chemical that had been spilled or dumped into the rivers and lakes. Today we even have to be careful about the ocean fish also.

Get Ready It's Hot Out There!

This is a warning about using too much heat on the food also. It is being suggested that the food being cooked until it is blackened could be one of the things that might be causing cancer. It causes a chemical to be formed in the food that is not good for us to eat. Sounds like it would be better to start the food in the oven and finish on the grill in order not to over cook it.

Trim off all fat and just put a thin coat of your favorite marinade. Some studies show that marinating the meat in red wine or beer for several hours before grilling help keep the bad chemicals from forming. Adding too much marinate that contain sugars will also cause the meat to overcook or get darker easier.

Accessories For Your Grilled Foods!

Everyone loves all the good ole standbys such as chips and fries, but in trying to make our grill out healthier, look to greens and such for the extras. Good ole green leafy veggies like spinach, all the lettuces, whether raw or cooked are much better for us than the old standbys. There are all kinds of good and good for us foods that will compliment our grilled foods and give us much more nutrition and be just plain healthier for us.

It is best to try to locate locally grown foods like our grandparents used to feed us and themselves. The farmers market is a good place to shop in the summertime. Try leaving off foods with corn syrup, sugar and preservatives added and opt for the ones right out of the garden. They taste wonderful and help make us feel kind of wonderful too.

Always Enjoy!

Maybe it would be better for us and make us feel better if we set our minds and heads to eat healthier, good for us foods, at least eighty percent of the time. If we do this we won't have to feel bad every time we eat something not so good for us. Just remember that grilling can be a much healthier and easier way to prepare our foods with just a few changes in our ingredients.

As much as we all love to get together and eat our healthier grilled out food, we all know that the most fun is just being together to visit and even pass out hugs in some cases. It is usually a stress reliever along with being a pick me up happy time.
